Senior Paralegal

Role Overview

JPalmer Collective is seeking a Senior Paralegal with deep experience in commercial lending or asset-based lending to lead a critical internal initiative: organizing, standardizing, and maintaining the integrity of all legal and credit documentation across the firm’s portfolio.

This role will begin as a full-time project (approx. 40 hours/week) focused on file cleanup, system alignment, and process implementation. Over time, it is expected to transition into a long-term, part-time or expanded role supporting ongoing portfolio operations, compliance, and legal process management.

This individual will operate as a high-trust, internal-facing operator, working across teams to ensure that documentation, compliance tracking, and post-closing processes are consistent, complete, and scalable.

Compensation: $120k-$160k per year, based on experience and qualifications. JPalmer Collective also offers a comprehensive benefits package for eligible employees.

Key Mandate

The primary mandate is to build and enforce institutional-quality documentation and compliance infrastructure across a fast-growing lending platform.

This includes:

  • Creating order across fragmented systems
  • Ensuring all loan files are complete, accurate, and audit-ready
  • Enforcing consistent naming, filing, and tracking protocols
  • Supporting internal teams with clear, accessible legal documentation

Core Responsibilities

1. Document Management & File System Standardization

  • Lead the cleanup and reorganization of all existing loan files across platforms (SharePoint)
  • Implement and enforce standardized naming conventions and folder structures
  • Ensure all documentation is centralized, accessible, and consistently maintained
  • Establish best practices for ongoing document management across the organization

2. Loan Documentation Review & Summarization

  • Review credit agreements, security agreements, borrowing base certificates, and related legal documents
  • Develop concise, practical summaries of key terms, covenants, and obligations for internal use
  • Ensure all executed documents are properly stored, indexed, and retrievable

3. Post-Closing Deliverables & Compliance Tracking

  • Build and manage a system to track post-closing deliverables across all deals
  • Ensure timely collection and proper documentation of all required items
  • Monitor compliance requirements under loan agreements and flag deficiencies internally
  • Support audit readiness by ensuring completeness of documentation

4. Cross-System Coordination & Data Integrity

  • Work across multiple systems (SharePoint, Dropbox, Google Drive, Salesforce, Cync) to ensure consistency and accuracy
  • Identify redundancies, gaps, or inefficiencies in current workflows
  • Recommend and implement improvements to streamline processes

5. Ongoing Portfolio & Operational Support

  • Serve as the internal point of accountability for document integrity and organization
  • Support additional legal, compliance, and operational initiatives as the firm scales
  • Assist with building repeatable processes that enable team growth and delegation

Candidate Profile

Required Experience

  • 5–10+ years of experience as a paralegal within commercial lending, asset-based lending, private credit, or specialty finance
  • Deep familiarity with:
    • Credit agreements
    • Loan documentation and collateral structures
    • Post-closing processes and deliverables
    • Compliance tracking within lending environments

Structure & Logistics

  • Initial engagement: ~40 hours/week (project-based)
  • Ongoing: ~10 hours/week, with potential to expand into a broader role
  • Hybrid: Preference for candidate who can be in-office 2 days per week (NYC)
  • Reports to COO
  • Open to contract-to-hire structure
